Note: Since I read the book with all three novels of the series included, I'll briefly review each of them individually but in the same post.
My Captain's Baby:
A secret omega. A protective alpha. An irresistible attraction.
Alpha Captain Zane Mayfield commands the special forces Delta Squad.
He’s wanted Specialist Aden Chandler since the man was assigned to his squad. The only issue is Aden is an alpha.
When an op goes sideways, Zane’s alpha instincts take over. All he cares about is keeping the snarky flirt of a sniper safe.
Specialist Aden Chandler lied about his omega status when he enlisted.
He has his dream job in the special forces and he’ll do what it takes to keep his dream alive, even if it means illegal suppressants and denying his need for his Captain.
But an op gone wrong changes everything and threatens to ruin both his and Captain Mayfield’s military career. Will Captain Mayfield choose duty over love? Or will Aden be proven once again that alphas can’t be trusted?
Aden is no wimpy omega. He is a legit badass sniper. No one suspects he's an omega because he isn't what people expect to see. The problem is omegas aren't in the special forces; if he's found out he'll likely lose the job he loves. His attraction to Zane can't go anywhere. It would risk them both.
A mission gone wrong leaves Aden without suppressants and his secret comes out (to Zane at least). His attraction to Aden, who he thought was an alpha too starts to make sense. Without the lie standing in their way, neither can deny their need for the other.
Despite his feelings for Zane, Aden wants to keep their relationship a secret. He doesn't want to lose his job. Unfortunately, he gets pregnant. He can't hide for long.
I enjoyed the personalities of the two characters, Aden especially. They had great chemistry together. The story had good flow and kept my attention well.
On a side note, recalling this story made me realize it reminds me a fan fiction story I've read a bunch of times. Both have omegas hiding their status and being forced out in the open by losing their suppressants. How can you go wrong with a theme like that! Hm...I'm going to have to read it again now.
Protecting the Omega is his mission. Falling in love is a whole different battle.
Sergeant First Class Kali Morris is the communications specialist for special forces Delta Squad. He's the love-em-and-leave-em type of alpha.
Kali finds his latest conquest the night before a mission, except he’s attracted to this omega more than he ever thought possible.
Sergeant Thomas Carter is an intelligent Omega, specializing in dead languages. He never expected to leave a base when he enlisted, preferring a desk job to running through the desert.
Alone, Thomas goes to a local bar to fight off his nerves and falls for the tempting alpha.
But when it turns out Sergeant Kali will be with him on the mission--Thomas’ heart is in as much danger as his life is.
Alpha Kali's duty is to complete the mission but his nature is to protect the Omega he's claimed.
Together, these men come together in a sizzling dance under the desert sky, but they must battle their instincts to fulfill their duties. And when those duties come before their hearts, they must face the battle for their love together.
Thomas is used to being safe in an office but his expertise is necessary for the mission to succeed. Nerves send him to a bar where he catches Kali's eye.
Kali is a bachelor to the core; mating isn't in his plans. Until Thomas walks in and rejects Kali's usual lines. With a little work, alcohol, and pheromones, the pair end up in bed together. The moment Kali leaves in the morning, he regrets it. Lucky for him, he gets a second chance when Thomas turns out to be the omega joining Delta Force for the mission.
Thomas is out of his element on the mission but when push comes to shove, he is as brave and strong as any of the Delta Forces soldiers. Another badass omega, which I very much like! I enjoyed this one as much as the first.
Saving His Omega:
An Omega in pain. An Alpha with the ability to heal.
Staff Sergeant Rory Shipmond saves lives. It’s his job in Delta Squad.
When Delta Squad rescues an American base from hostiles, he saves an omega who has been hurt more than Rory could ever imagine.
Damien Raoult learned early he can’t trust alphas as a rich Omega. His tech business attracts all type of attention and Damien claims to be bonded to his business.
Damien is visiting an American military base in Hong Kong, a base that the U.S.A. doesn’t admit exists, when it’s attacked by a gang in efforts to steal his weapon technology.
When the medical officer asks Damien if he’s okay, Damien wants to open up more than he has before. But, he can’t risk the pain, even if his Omega instincts tell him Staff Sergeant Shipmond is his Alpha.
Rory is determined to heal this Omega, not because it’s his duty, but because it’s his desire. He will win Damien’s trust and his heart, one way or another.
Damien's past has taught him not to trust alphas. He's no soldier but when he's kidnapped, Damien sacrifices himself to save others. When it comes to his personal life though, he's not quite as brave. He would rather protect himself by denying his mate, Rory, than take the chance at finding love and happiness. He is a one-night-stand kind of omega. Never allowing anyone to get close enough to hurt him again.
Rory knows Damien is his omega but when Damien brushes him off like what they are is nothing, he accepts it. Rory respects Damien's right to choice and won't force him into a relationship. It's hard not to like Rory; he's patient and loving. Trustworthy. Rory is able to make Damien drop his playboy facade and show his true self. And in those brief glimpses, love begins.
I was drawn more to Rory than Damien in this story. Rory's such a sweet, loyal, loving alpha. How can you not love someone so caring? He isn't concerned about what an alpha should be, you'll know what I'm referring to when you read the end of the story.
I enjoyed all three books in this series. These omegas weren't pushovers, they were strong and brave. I definitely need more badass omega stories! Their alphas were all different but they all respected their omegas as men. They didn't own their omegas, any more than their omegas owned them. There was more of an equality in the relationships than the typical alpha/omega stories. It wasn't about dominance or submission; it was about love. The pregnancies only added to the sweetness and love of the romances. I hope you enjoy these stories as much as I did.
Roses for His Omega: M/M Non Shifter Alpha/Omega Mpreg (Mapleville Omegas Book 2) by Lorelei M. Hart and Ophelia Heart
Attending a Valentine’s Day wedding solo, when your “plus one” just dumped you, is about at romantic as a visit to the dentist.
Reid hesitates to accept the invitation to his college roommate—and onetime lover’s midweek wedding, but at least he has an enviable date in hotshot lawyer, Topher. Until, after Reid’s bought their plane tickets and made all the plans, Topher dumps him. Rather than stay home and mope, he chooses the possible lesser evil and heads for Mapleville. He’ll deal with his misery and the snowball of ways his life is falling apart when he gets home. One thing for sure, he’s not going to make important decisions based on the vagaries of an unreliable love life. Maybe the good things of life are just not meant for him.
Kayson lives a good life, by most accounts. He works with his aunt at her local florist shop creating beautiful arrangements and spreading sunshine through botanicals. He lives in a town he adores. He has the finances to live peacefully without financial stress. Only problem is, he is lonely. He longs for a mate, someone to spend his life with, raise a family with and in small town Mapleville, there just wasn’t anyone who fit the bill.
When Knox and his future bride, Celeste, hired Vivian’s Roses to do their wedding flowers, it appeared to be just a typical gig and then bridezilla came out. Between switching orders and outbursts there was nothing more he wanted than to have the wedding be over and done with. Until a coffee shop encounter with Reid turned his world on its axis. Instant chemistry and a connection like none he’d experienced before had him wanting time to slow giving him the opportunity to convince Reid to stay in Mapleville and be his omega, his mate.
Roses for His Omega is a Valentine’s novella filled with enough sweetness to cause cavities, a touch of knotty heat, and enough love to go around.
Reid is not feeling his best. His boyfriend and date to the wedding decides Reid is somehow a gold-digger and dumps him. Topher is an utter moron and arrogant in the way only an oblivious jerk can be. I won't waste any more time on Topher; he's a jackass, enough said. Kayson, on the other hand, has his outspoken aunt in his ear chirping rather bluntly about babies. Vivian is hilarious; dirty and blunt and like my grandma was turned up by a million. Nothing is out of bounds for her. I loved Kayson, he has some the same sass Vivian has.
The sass and sarcasm in the book was much appreciated. It didn't hurt reading the characters saying things I'd say. (Growing up with only brothers, I'm not exactly what you'd call lady-like and I'm perfectly happy that way). Dealing with Bridezilla led to some funny moments. I loved the instant connection Reid and Kayson had. They had great chemistry together!
This novella had it all for me. I loved every bit of it and will read it again.
Both will betray the pack. Can they save each other? In the Louisiana bayou, the bond between alpha and omega burns hot and dangerous.
Kevin was a beautiful contradiction of vulnerability and fury wrapped in pure sex appeal.
It was all I could do to hold my wolf in check. If I pushed too hard, I'd lose. I couldn't afford to lose Kevin. Already, this omega had become precious. I hadn’t come here to find a mate. That didn’t matter. The omega was mine and I was his, whether we liked it or not.
His name was Blaze, and Kevin was playing with fire.
Our eyes met. It was just dinner. Blaze kept to the boundaries of our agreement, but I wanted more. I’d never felt this way about an alpha. Blaze was everything I wanted and everything I couldn’t have.
Alpha Blaze is an action-packed mpreg romance novel of 64,000 words with hot werewolf bikers, bad language, smutty-times, knotting, and men who get pregnant. Warning: this book contains a tough-as-nails omega struggling to overcome a painful past (incl. rape trauma and miscarriage) and a strong, sensitive alpha who will do anything to win his omega’s heart.
If you love your mpreg romance with a dollop of angst and a healthy helping of action, start reading Alpha Blaze today!
Cups: 4.5 cups
The Scions pack is rotten thanks to their pack alpha. Pack members remain through lust for power and fear. Kevin, the alpha's nephew, is trapped. Beaten down physically and mentally, he does everything he can to remain invisible. Reading Kevin as he is in the book is sad; he is clearly traumatized from his years of abuse and the terrible things he's seen and endured. Blaze is a spy, plain and simple. He isn't the power hungry alphas that make up the Scions. The moment he meets Kevin, things change. He isn't only concerned about his former pack but about freeing Kevin.
I really enjoyed the cast of characters in this story. Kevin is a sympathetic character. He's strong but traumatized. Trusting an alpha is hard for him, no surprise there. I am truly hoping I can see glimpses of his true boldness as he grows more comfortable and trusting in future stories in the series. Blaze isn't the stereotypical alpha. For one, he bottoms! Willingly and eagerly! Go Alpha bottoms! He isn't driven by the need for power either. I liked how he wasn't entirely confident in his abilities. The other supporting characters were great as well. I am so excited for the next story!! The antagonists were written well too. I absolutely hated them, his alpha evilness and Jeremy. I may or may not have been chanting DIE every time they showed up. (I definitely was).
One tiny issue was the pregnant aspect. For those (like me) who don't really consider it a mpreg book when the pregnancy is mentioned at the end, it's not a mpreg book. However, there is a free book you can download, which has tidbits from Kevin's pregnancy and the baby. If you take the free book into consideration, it feels more like a mpreg book.
Is book two out yet? No? Well, damn.
How about now? No? *whines* But why not? I wanna read it!
