Turn up the heat!
Alpha, Preston is alone. His character has been assassinated by a vicious rumor and he’s been cast out of Austin, forced to work as a farmhand for the last eight years. He’ll never find a mate—he’s accepted it. But one night, on a routine delivery downtown, Preston encounters a scent that turns everything he knows upside down.
Kenneth is also alone. Orphaned. Both parents both dead, he’s packed up everything and is moving to Boston to start fresh. But before he does—he heads to the bar for a quick drink to get his mind off things. One quick drink couldn’t hurt…right?
Preston is floored when he catches the scent of his fated-mate. But the sweet omega is in trouble. He’s been drugged by the very same disgusting alpha who ruined Preston’s life eight years ago. Jasper Vanderton.
Fueled by rage, revenge and the scent of his fated-mate, Preston saves Kenneth from a terrible, life changing experience and rushes him back to the farm. It’s not long before the two realize they’re meant for each other. Preston is determined to put a cub in his belly and bind them together forever, but there’s just one problem--
Jasper has found them. His family is rich and powerful, and they’re going to buy the farm and force them off the land—or worse. Preston has no choice but to act, but how can he, one alpha, go up against the most powerful family in Austin?
…But Preston’s been blessed by a miracle. He’s found his fated-mate and he will do anything to make sure they’re never apart.
Alpha’s Destiny is the first book in Texas Heat, a brand new series from Aspen Grey featuring all the great stuff you’ve come to expect from her: fated love, no cheating, thrilling romance and enough heat you’ll need a fan to cool you down. Read at your own risk… ;)

Preston was the victim of rich asshole, Jasper. Drugged after refusing to spread his legs for Jasper, Preston soon found himself being falsely accused and vilified for attempted rape of Jasper. He is abandoned by everyone and moved away to work on an isolated farm.
Kenneth is an orphan about to move away. For a last hurrah, he decides to go to a bar and perhaps get rid of his pesky virginity. Unfortunately, he runs into, you guessed it, Jasper. When Kenneth rebuffs Jasper's attentions, Jasper predictably goes to his favorite tactics: drugs. Kenneth is pretty helpless after being drugged and Jasper and his wonderful (can you hear the sarcasm?) friends are happy to take advantage of him.
Jasper is one of those guys. The rich assholes who get away with everything and leave traumatized people in his wake without a care. He's a selfish jerk that reminds me of all those rich assholes who get away with raping women. To say I hated him is an understatement.
Lucky for Kenneth, Preston comes to save him. And BOOM fated mates. Who loves fated mates? I do!
I had to get over the names when I started the book. I dislike the name Preston (sorry) and I have a close relative named Kenneth. Other than the names, I like Preston and Kenneth as a couple. Preston is a good alpha, an honorable one but that doesn't mean he can't get a little kinky, hehe. Spanking, why is it so delicious to read about?
Jasper, of course, tries to ruin Preston and Kenneth's mating. Unless Preston figures out how to protect his mate and his job, they're going to be homeless soon. They need allies and a plan.
I liked this novella but I didn't love it. I liked the characters and hated the villain. The relationship was steamy and tempered with sweetness. It was a quick, enjoyable read. The plot could have been improved and be more memorable with a bit more elements of originality. This novella is a perfect way to end a long, difficult day. A mix of angst, fluff, kink, and love, it's a nice read for when you don't want to think too much.
Logan McRae expected to wake on the spacecraft Mercury, ready to pilot the ship to New Earth. Instead, he finds himself facing two aliens whose help he'll need if he wants to find his people.
Kit doesn't know what sort of creature he has accidentally purchased, but it's definitely male and not completely different from him and his lover, Halor. The language barrier might be a problem, but Kit knows the language of love doesn't always need words.
Halor has been reluctant to expand his nest, but he'll do anything to give Kit the happiness he deserves, even invite another man into their bed.
Logan has no idea that Kit isn't quite like other men until their passion results in unexpected consequences. Now he must choose between his mission and the two men who have given him everything he has ever wanted, as well as things he never dreamed of.

This book has been on my to-read list for a long while. It's not on Kindle Unlimited, which means I had to buy it. I'd been hoping to win an Amazon gift card during the last Mpreg author giveaways party but my luck proved to be awful. (I won nothing...unsurprising considering my history of unluckiness) I decided to just take the plunge and buy it. I was done waiting. FYI, I do not like buying books I haven't read before unless it's on sale.
I wasn't sure what to expect from this book. I've tried to read an alien mpreg story before but the one I chose wasn't for me. I was hoping this one was better and it definitely was.
Logan deals with his strange circumstances better than most probably would. Instead of waking up with his fellow crew, he's awaken to find two strange animal-like aliens.
Kit is everything. I love him. Adorable and sassy. He evolved from cats and has feline features like ears, tail, and some fur. He's open, giving, and let's face it, loves sex.
Halor is more reserved. He evolved from birds and has some bird-like features. He's more suspicious of Logan and is focused on protecting Kit from the strange being they accidentally bought.
Kit brings the three of them together. At first, it's Logan and Kit, and Kit and Halor. Kit is hard to deny and harder not to love. Neither Logan nor Halor can resist him. The relationship between Halor and Logan develops more slowly.
The pregnancy gives opportunity for adorable moodiness (Kit) and loving care/pampering (Halor and Logan). It also causes some problems, which force the men to actual talk.
I quite enjoyed the world Brown created. Reminiscent of our own but with tweaks. It is definitely a sci-fi type world. I found it easy to immerse myself in it and imagine the 'aliens' in my mind.
The story is primarily focused on the triad relationship. Like all relationships, they have to contend with unhappy in-laws (Halor's parents), misunderstandings, and judging friends (Logan's crew mates). It isn't easy but love gets them through it.
If Brown wanted, this world could be turned into a series without too much effort. While some humans were rescued from captivity, there are more still out there. There could be another story or two in there. I'd enjoy seeing more of this universe.
This story is a good sci-fi love story. If you enjoy sci-fi and triad relationships, you should give this one a try. It was worth having to buy it. I look forward to more from this author.

Hayden has been hiding a large part of himself for a long time. He's an omega and is attracted to both men and women. His mother fell apart after his father died and Hayden had to try to keep things together. He was always the perfect son but finally, he's finding the courage to live for himself. What he wants most to be controlled and he's hoping Leo is the man to do it.
Leo is mentally broken. His last relationship still affects his every waking moment; it isn't helping that he's basically being stalked by his ex. Leo is not in a good headspace. He hasn't dealt with his past.
Hayden and Leo both feel a spark when they meet. Hayden is afraid to be his true self and Leo is terrified to trust Hayden. This is an angsty story. Leo was definitely put through the wringer and is scarred mentally by his past. Major trust issues and fear of putting his heart on the line with Hayden. Hayden has his own share of mental struggles. I didn't quite understand why it was such a big deal he's an omega. Maybe in his world, male omegas are looked down upon? I'm not sure. It's a lot of angst, really good angst but a little too much for my personal preference. If you love angst, this is a great story for you! I'm an angst wuss, I can fully admit it. I need fluff to get me through the angst. Too much angst without fluff to balance it out for me.
The BDSM was good and I definitely enjoyed the Daddy kink and age gap. Yum!
The ending was fluffy mcflufferson. Sweet and loving and cute. It was great. I loved how they became a family in the end.
Overall, this wasn't a book for me. This is a good book, I'm not denying that. It was nicely written and a good story but not my kind of story. My rating is based mostly upon being an angst wimp (which I'm okay with). All the other stuff? Hit my buttons but angst me no likey.
Love angst? This is the story for you!
It's lonely at the top of Olympus
Hot-headed Zeus used to be King of the Gods. He did what he wanted, when he wanted, and no one, not even his wife, Hera, could keep him under control. His passions were legendary, and no mortal could resist his advances. He and his brothers ran wild on Earth. Bedding and breeding countless mortals until the jealous goddess’ rebelled and cursed their wayward husbands.
After centuries of anger, the brothers have finally deciphered the promise of an ancient oracle that will change their lonely existence forever, and usher in an age of New Olympians.
Cameron was a theatre student, sure, he’s been around the block before, but no one had ever caught his eye like Zachary. The muscles, the beard, the tattoos… he was everything that Cameron should have known to run far away from, but there was an electricity between them, something he couldn’t explain… what he doesn’t know is that Zachary isn’t everything he says he is, and there’s more at stake than just some Friday night hookup. Cameron’s demand for truth and honesty in a relationship could spell the end of his dreams, or carry the promise of something beyond anything he could ever have imagined.
Lightning Strikes is book 1 in the New Olympians series. This novella is 32,000 words, with an HEA featuring an independent omega with big dreams and an alpha-god to claim him. This book features themes of male pregnancy/MPREG and is suitable for readers over the age of 18 only.
I was excited to read this book. I love Greek mythology; all those Gods and Goddesses (Athena: strong, beautiful, smart, badass? Talk about a woman to look up to!). Such a complex and dramatic world, it's interesting! Vincent takes Greek mythology and tweaks it to create a new universe. The Gods of Olympus are cursed by the Goddesses. They are no longer allowed to have sex with mortals; it would kill the mortal. The idea of the Goddesses cursing the Gods seems 100% accurate. The Gods were dogs, not that the Goddesses were angels either! They definitely felt the extent of the Goddesses' wrath. Pretty sad though as the Gods are all alone. All their demi-god children have died. They are without family except for the other Gods. Pretty lonely.
Zeus is an emotional god. Full of anger and loss and loneliness. He truly craves a family; he's lost without one. Hades (I'm 98% sure) reminds him of the prophecy of how to break the curse, which is basically they need to find a descendant of one of the Goddesses (since they aren't cursed and have mated with humans to create children). He needs to find his 'spark' and only then he'll be able to have a family again. Zeus, aka Zachary, is a hottie. Picture Zeus as a hipster, bearded and covered in tattoos. Yum! He's sexy as hell; I can see why humans just jumped into his bed! God, he would make such a good Daddy.
Cameron is passionate but poor. Going to school, he goes hungry too much. He's happy though because he is working toward his goal of being on stage. The other thing he loves besides the stage is his sister and her two children. Cameron is exactly the kind of guy I love. He's a little awkward, a little socially clueless, and absolutely adorable. Cameron lusts after Zeus pretty hard; Zeus is his dream guy.
This is a novella, so the relationship build up is fast but believable. They are hot together! I love the heat and spark they feel when they touch. If this story had novel length to it, the rating probably would have been higher. The story isn't lacking. More length means more immersion for me as a reader though and man, I wanted to be in the universe longer. This series seems to me like one I'd jump into and read until I was finished. I'm guessing all will be novellas, so it would be easy to do. I'd get all the immersion I am craving!
Overall, I enjoyed this book. It's a quick read, which at times is what I'm looking for. I wasn't craving a novella when I read this story, my rating might have been different had I been in that mood. It's a good start to the series. I am excited to read the rest of the series. I wish Hades was next because I want to read his story most. He's fascinating and I can't wait to see him fall like a ton of bricks for someone! Poseidon is next up and it seems he has met someone already. I wonder who it is!
