Capital Assets by Cecelia Storm
For years I'd avoided omegas. They were too tempting. In heat, they pulled alphas like me across a hot, dangerous line. I couldn't risk hurting another one...
Until I caught his scent on a cold Manhattan night. My extravagant world crashed around us as our bodies and hearts collided. His taste brought me to my knees.
All this time I thought I was different. I thought I could change this city, choked by corruption and greed. But one omega, struggling to find his way, showed me the frailty of authority, and the power of acceptance.
Now we fight. We stand up to those who seek to break us; but how much pain can we endure? Is our love and future worth the blood and bruises? How can life possibly spring from the ashes around us?
"It was a kiss I'd never felt before; it was the slow, gentle taste of a person who holds a piece of your heart, and whom you have greatly missed."
Help us as we try to see the world around us for what it is, and find the love we know is in our broken hearts.
I have to say at first I wasn't really impressed with this book. It seemed to me like it was going to be yet another Alpha meets Omega, they kiss, have sex, get pregnant, insta-love, out pops baby or babies. And it was just that until I got about 2/3 of the way through it and then, WHOA!! I couldn't put my Kindle down until I finished the book!
The alpha, Archer, had an extremely harrowing experience with an omega while he was in college. It haunted him every day and he chose to be a recluse in everything he did in life in order to stay away from being tempted by any omegas. Sure there were some at his company, but he was able to keep them at arm's length and never fraternized with them outside of work.
Archer and his business partner own a company on Wall Street. They chose to not go the way of all the other greedy companies so they made sure they did everything honestly and ethically. Even going so far as to allow time off for heats for their omega employees!
Jeremiah is the disowned son of the biggest, nastiest, greediest businessmen to ever live! He hasn't seen nor heard from his father since he was 3. He lives with his uncle and helps out at the family restaurant while getting his degree in finances.
Archer and Jeremiah "Jer" meet one night in the alley behind the restaurant when Jer suddenly goes into heat. His uncle intervenes and sends Archer away.
When Archer unknowingly hires Jer as their new intern things begin to really heat up.
Things follow the usual path of Alpha/Omega/pregnant from here, UNTIL someone from Archer's past shows up. The story took a turn so fast I got whiplash! It sucked me in and didn't let go until the very last word! People get hurt, die, manipulate, and tragedy strikes in more ways than one. For awhile I couldn't figure out what nefarious ways the bad guy, no spoilers so I'm calling him that, was using to get to our MC's and then everything came crashing down around them. Who are the moles in Archer's company? What info have they been leaking to our disgusting bad guy that puts the good guys in jeopardy? What does Jer's father want from him? Will the good guys overcome evil and will we see the fall of the bad guy? Oh this book was soooo good! It's definitely NOT the typical Mpreg book I thought it to be when I first began reading it. It has humor, feels, hot alpha/omega sex that will burn your eyeballs out, action (not just the sexual kind either), intrigue, good vs. evil, love, happiness, tragedy, and most of all a Happily Ever After!
READ THIS BOOK!
If I could give it 10 cups of tea I would, but since I'm limited I'm giving it 5 wildly thorough satisfying cups of tea!
Hi! I'm Kenna! I began reading at the age of 3 and mastered it by the time I was 7. I read my first romance when I was 12 and I was instantly addicted. I found the mm and mpreg genre a few years ago and I haven't read anything else since. Things that bring me the most happiness in life are thunderstorms, rainbows, chocolate, painting, making jewelry, my furrbabies, and of course reading. I've been a fast food drive-thru guru, retail manager, teacher for kids with severe autism, life skills coach, and a companion for disabled kids. While I don't have kids of my own I do have a small zoo of furrbabies who drive me crazy. I'm a voracious reader of everything MM, especially Mpreg. I can never get enough of it. My favorites are the paranormal stories. While I'm not a writer at this time I hope to someday sit down and write the books that the voices in my head are clamoring to be set free in. In the meantime I'll write reviews and do video reviews for authors who listen to the voices in their own heads and give us those stories for us to read.
