An Alpha prince ready to find his fated mate. A Selkie who wishes he wasn't omega-born...
Unlike his brothers, Prince Adrian, the dutiful second-born son to the King of the North, looks forward to finding his true mate and producing an heir. Until he stumbles across a beta guard with an enticing scent.
Del never wanted to be an omega. All his life, he's only wanted one thing: to serve as a Royal Guard. Though forbidden, he found a concoction to mask his omega scent and was successful until his dwindling supply caused the alpha prince to discover his deception.
Rian not only breaks every cherished royal tradition, hut ends up hiding Del until he can figure out the reason for the attraction between them. However, one selfish mistake puts them in a precarious position they can't escape. Their reckless actions have them worried they'll be banished from the Selkie community. Rian needs a plan to convince his father to accept his mate before he has to risk everything he's ever known and loved for their future. Because, no matter what the king says, Rian will not give up Del.
I totally enjoyed this book! As I read book one I couldn't help but think that Rian was going to be the prince most likely to be hidden away and tortured by his brothers. He's the kiss-ass to the king and has never made it a secret that he wants to be king. My opinion changed as I read this book. He redeemed himself in my eyes.
As Rian's leaving the main hall he comes across the most delectable scent he's ever smelled. He follows his nose and it leads him to Del, a beta guard. But, how can a beta smell so amazingly like an omega? Rian finally gets the truth out of Del and Rian whisks him away to a cottage where they spend the following few days in a sex-filled, non-stop, heated, rut. When they find out they're expecting a baby Rian knows he can't bring Del back to the castle to live because he knows the king will be livid. They both fear what the king will do to them when he learns that one of his beta guards is an omega, was illegally masking his scent, and wasn't chosen as an acceptable omega to be presented to mate with a prince. Rian is able to keep the secret for months but eventually the cat is out of the bag and they're forced back to the castle to face the consequences of their actions.
When the king does find out he's not happy to say the least. Rian's brothers all come to his and Del's aid to try to get the king to see reason and be happy that the prince found his fated mate AND that he'll have another grandson soon. I won't spoil the ending, you'll just have to get the book and read it!
*I do hope the king soon realizes that his annoying, smarmy, assistant is making things worse by undermining most of the things the five prince's say and do. I'm sure we'll find out more in the next 3 books.
I give this book 5 steaming hot cups of tea!
Hi! I'm Kenna! I began reading at the age of 3 and mastered it by the time I was 7. I read my first romance when I was 12 and I was instantly addicted. I found the mm and mpreg genre a few years ago and I haven't read anything else since. Things that bring me the most happiness in life are thunderstorms, rainbows, chocolate, painting, making jewelry, my furrbabies, and of course reading. I've been a fast food drive-thru guru, retail manager, teacher for kids with severe autism, life skills coach, and a companion for disabled kids. While I don't have kids of my own I do have a small zoo of furrbabies who drive me crazy. I'm a voracious reader of everything MM, especially Mpreg. I can never get enough of it. My favorites are the paranormal stories. While I'm not a writer at this time I hope to someday sit down and write the books that the voices in my head are clamoring to be set free in. In the meantime I'll write reviews and do video reviews for authors who listen to the voices in their own heads and give us those stories for us to read.
